We’ve just bought a VW Tiguan as our family car, my other half got rid of his and we kept my BMW which he now uses but we go halves on our insurance tax and finance on the Tiguan as that is what we’ll both use together on weekends with it being more practical for car seat ect
I like small SUV’s like the Mercedes GLA or Volvo XC40 (I’ve had them both). They’re not too big, but big enough for a family of three. Just seen you have two boys though so you may need the next size up in those ranges.
@Bethan we could defo work the logistics as we both work from home and it’s rare we’re both out at the same time with separate plans! I’ve had a car previously that was small but higher up and I really liked having the higher up position, so I get that!
@Maddie I like the Tiguan’s! I think it just makes sense sometimes to do that, also no point us constantly changing car seats around like we’ve been doing
@Taliah I’ve been looking at both of those actually! Think we’re going to look at a GLA and see how it is for space, we’ve been making do with a smaller car 😅
Why not pretend you only have one car for a month or so and see how it goes?
If you can work the logistics and manage on one car, I would. I've never shared a car and I like having mine but we usually end up using the one with the car seats in/first one on the drive save moving one etc. Plus the halving of insurance etc is nothing to be sniffed at. Also, you could share, and if it becomes unmanageable then look for one? It's not a forever decision. I've always had hatchbacks and smaller cars. Have moved to a bigger one because I needed the boot space. I settled on a Renault Capture because it's not TOO big and it still has a decent boot space for me to fit the pram in. I wouldn't have gone for any bigger and my partner has an old BM that I can drive but don't like. It's too long for me 😂. Now I really enjoy driving a bigger car, I'm higher up driving and I find the view of the road better. You adjust :)
