are you bottle feeding or breastfeeding? when did they last do a poo? X

Bottle feeding and last poo was last night around 11pm x

In their next bath put a teaspoon of epson salt. Works wonders

Bicycle legs, try giving some ready made formula instead of powder as it has a bit of a laxative effect x

constipation for bottle feeding is fewer than 3 poos a week, and it says you should contact your health visitor or GP if they are under 8 weeks old and haven’t done a poo in two or three days, so give it time mama they don’t always poops regularly. breast feeding is a natural laxative so is more concerning if they don’t poo which is why i asked. if it was only 11pm last night then you’ve got nothing to worry about just yet! in the meantime, you can do gentle tummy massages, bicycle legs, baths are good as it relaxes the muscles (beware they may poop in the bath tho! my first born suffered with a bit of constipation as newborn and we did bicycle legs and then bathed him and he pooped in the bath 🤣 ) xx

Thank you for the advice ❤️

Ask your pediatrician but it is normal for them to go a few days without a poop. They are only drinking liquids remember. If I’m remembering correctly my pediatrician said they can go like 5 days or more if they are breastfed. Please don’t give him anything before discussing it with your doctor first. Your child is brand new and their body is just learning what to do. What has your feeling that they are constipated in the first place?
