This happened to our son when he was circumcised. He is 15 months old now and has kinda grown out of it. Pediatrician said she does see it when they are chubby
@Hannah this is what our doctor told us too because my son’s circumcision was like, not enough, as in still mostly covering the head of his penis between like 3mo-12mos old. But the doctor pushed down the pubic skin around it and showed us that it’s mostly just because he was so chubby (he was in the 95% percentile for both height and weight at that point). He has slimmed out a bit now that he is 2yrs old and obviously now mobile and much more active…and it’s gotten a lot better. But still not 100% normal looking. Some asked the doctor again at his 18mo check up and the dr said it could continue to get better as he gets older, also then when he’s older and gets erect, it won’t be noticeable anymore. But I don’t want him to ever feel weird or self conscious about it. You know how much men love their penises!! lol the Dr said we COULD have it surgically fixed—basically a correction of the circumcision—but that seems like such a horribly painful thing to do for a boy who is now 2yrs…
If you’re concerned you can always get a second opinion x
Did the urologist go over it at all with you?
@Hannah no, he was born at a very low weight actually. Hopefully!
@Kristin this is reassuring to hear! Was your son a little chubby at birth?
@Nai no, I haven’t seen one yet. I will book an appointment soon though
Is your child on the chubbier side? I have seen this before, from what I’ve seen it seems that as the child grows and loses their baby fat it becomes less buried.
