Maybe stuff like: Tornado in a bottle Oil and water Baking soda and vinegar
I don’t know any of the top of my head but if you go on Amazon .. they have these kits from National Geographic that I’ve gotten my kids & a few are science related and have all the stuff you need.
@Denise just any ideas you guys have, honestly I didn't even think about the soda one lol, only one I could think of was pepper and soap
I was the education coordinator for a museum & loved incorporating science and math into my history materials. For that age, I would explain that scientists make observations about the world and then take my kiddo to a park to have them make simple observations. Ask them what do they see? Hear? smell? Is it warm or cold? Etc. Be sure to check out the websites of your local science centers, museums, zoos, etc. they often post free resources to use at home. Here’s a couple of examples that start at the pre-k level: https://www.nasa.gov/learning-resources/nasa-kids-club/ https://yes.mos.org/unit/wee-engineer/
-An ant farm. -Making ice cream from sugar/cream/vanilla extract in a ziplock bag and massaging/shaking it in another ziplock bag filled with ice. All the shaking also tires them out. -Best homemade cleaning product experiment. Vinegar/baking soda/soap and water/lemon. What works best on what surface then researching why. Also helps make chores more fun. -white flowers in water with food coloring. -bouncy egg. Soak the egg in vinegar for a few days. -DIY sundial. -make rock candy.

Baking. My boy loves measuring and adding stuff and mixing. Plus we can eat it 😂 then there’s making playdoh and making slime which is a whole process in itself plus the hour afterwards he spends actually playing w it. And when he’s bored- Mentos and coke 😂 it fizzes up
One I haven't seen suggested yet, the "germ" experiment... place water in a shallow dish, sprinkle pepper flakes on top for "germs" have the kids dip their finger in some dish soap and then place their finger in the bowl of germs, the pepper flakes immediately spread to the edge as if running away from the soap.
Also, scavenger hunts are popular too, maybe try a themed one for spring. There are many templates on Pinterest.
@Crystal that's the only one I could think of lol, I couldn't think of anything else so I made the post
@Nevaeh it's tough when they are little! Pinterest has some good ideas usually lol, the national geographic kits are more for older kiddos I think.. maybe you could touch on some astrology... trace around a flashlight with cardstock, draw out some constellations and punch holes out for each star, then tape them over the flashlight so it shines the different constellations? That could be fun, too, I think.
Oil and water with food coloring!! Also idk about experiments but you could do archeological dogs with their toys hidden in ground up Cheerios or something similar !

I used to fill up cups of water add some food colouring and then get my daughter to add bicarbonate soda. She loved watching the colours fizz. Also salt ice and a piece of string is a fun one.

The skittles experiment is any easy one. Rubbing balloons on hair to make static electricity and move bits of paper! Using coloured water to practice colour mixing. Also, just fill a big tub of water and get different sized containers and see which is biggest/ smallest, how many egg cups does it take to fill and beaker etc.
Digging for bones. You print out dinosaur bones and then mould salt dough to the shape let them dry and put in sand and get pain brushes to dig them out. Waterballoons food colouring and dinosaurs pop them inside the balloon fill them up and put in the freezer. Let them dig the dinosaurs out. Nature scavenger hunt with a tick list and bag little tweezers to pick things and then later make a collage with glue. Bubble play making and blowing bubbles Making home made sensory lava lamps with oil water food colouring glitter etc Sensory Bins/trays Ice play - sand castle bucket fill with water freeze and then let them paint the ice Mud kitchen play with every day seasonings home made playdough with flowers Lavender playdough Scented playdough. Etc
a butterfly kit
Outside mentos is soda? Water on straw wrapper?
