I also do
We do combi feed. Have been doing since she was a few days old because nipples needed some healing time after latching struggles. Everyone is different and you will find what works best for you, but here are a few recommendations- Start slow with the formula, introduce 1 or 2 formula feeds in a 24 hour period. With the expressing, you're going to need to pump on a schedule that mimics your baby's feeding schedule when she isn't direct to breast. So, every 2-3 hours. (It's tough in the beginning, but does get easier). Consider a power-pumping session once every 2 days or so to try and increase supply so that you can build up a bit of a supply in the fridge.
@Cat thank you very much for this. I genuinely have no idea where to start but this has helped☺️ Can you recommend a formula or is it a trial and error kind of thing? I have quite a big supply anyway (I can get 4oz in a 10-15 minute pumping session). Is this a lot or do I need more? Sorry I’m a complete newbie x
@Rheanna please would you mind if I message you as well 🙏🏽 I can't get my head around when would be best to express I have only been collecting letdown in a haaka so far
We've just started combi feeding as baby wasn't gaining weight , we did 3 bottles a day formula and I pumped every 3 hours , noe my supply is established and I have a slight stash in the fridge ((about 2 feeds in fridge at all times)) were only on breastmilk and only give formula around bedtime as she goes longer stretches between feeds , normally hour n half between feeds on boob milk. Were doing 3oz of each but make sure you're pumping every 3 hr even during the night to establish and keep your supply. I have the mommed s21 off amazon it was about 100 quid for both pumps and lots of spare parts and flanges x
Also power pumping !! Is a life saver i went from getting around 2oz each pump to 5-6oz so now I have a stash in the fridge and any spare at the end of the day goes in freezer , the momcozy milk flask is really good too for bringing milk out the house with you and pumping on the go x
I pump every 3 hours. My baby girl is nearly 4 weeks old and we bottle feed breast milk in the day and formula over night. I always wanted to BF but she doesn’t latch so decided to pump. But my supply isn’t enough for the whole day - the formula on night helps her to longer stretches of sleep too.
@Amy try power pumping at an evening , my supply has gone mental from this I've gone from 10ml to almost 5oz in just over a week x
@Amy fenugreek supplements and oats in morning helps too x
I combi feed my daughter if you want to give me a message I can explain my schedule 😊😊
