Toddler and tv

My toddler recently started getting so upset when I turn the tv off, even if he’s not in the room or watching it. Then if I put it back on, he goes outside the room to play with his toys in the hallway 😩 I don’t know what to do, I wanted to cut down on electric

Try playing music? I’d stand my ground and let him feel all the feels, comfort him, but let him know tv is staying off. And he can throw his tantrum but it’s staying off.

When I’m ready to turn tv off for my toddler I ask him to say bye to it. He normally does we switch it off and he’s fine. He’d have a tantrum though if he doesn’t say bye. I think it just lets him know what’s about to happen rather than it just happening. We also listen to music if he wants background noise

This puts me off turning it back on 🤣 I’m like well we’re definitely not watching it now! It’s a bloody tv so we just try and do other things until he understood and now by boy knows once it’s off it’s off just keep trying to distract him xx

I usually end up having it on just so I can feed the baby and she’s been really difficult to nap recently so I have my hands full with just her alone 🥲

Yeah I get it! It’s tough. I have to turn on tv at times too to be able to get certain things done. But you can turn it off in between those tasks. Just gotta stand up to the little bullies 😂

Try setting a timer so there’s a warning the tv will be turned off. Putting it back on may make things worse in the long run, because he’s learning that if he has a big reaction you do what he wants in the end.
