Tongue tie

I have an appointment this week to correct my son’s tongue tie. He’s 7 weeks and I’m just so nervous! Has anyone else been through it and can reassure me it’s not so bad? 🙏 We’ve been trying to avoid it but it’s getting more significant and we believe causing his horrible reflux

Hi! My little girls tongue tie was cut when she was 2 days old! I will be honest it’s done in literally 2 seconds, sounds brutal but they get a pair of scissors and cut it! My little one cried for 2 seconds and absolutely fine after cuddles! 🩷

Hi my LO had his tongue tie corrected when he was 6 weeks old. It literally took 2 secs and he only cried for few seconds and then breastfed him straight after. He was just bit unsettled for that evening and just needed cuddles. It’s not bad at all xx

Yeah my little girl had it done at 3 weeks old, she hated their fingers in her mouth more than the actual cut! She cried for 2 seconds, by the time they unswaddled her and brought her to me, she stopped crying! X

Had it done at 7 weeks, I looked away, took two seconds and then he was asleep in his car seat before we left the room ☺️

Thank you so much everyone! This is making me feel so much better, I’ve been a mess!

It really helped with my little one's reflux! He sleeps so much better, no choking or gurgling sounds anymore.

@Emma oh that has given me soo much hope!

It's not bad at all, over in a second and makes a massive difference. I've had both of my boys tongue ties cut. One at 7 months (eek) and one at 10 days old

Yes my first baby had a tongue tie and we got an assessment and it cut privately also at 7 weeks. The actual procedure was over in seconds, he cried when they cut it but then I breastfed him and he calmed down straight away, he went to sleep after that so couldn't have been in too much pain. He also seemed fine after. Feeding did take a while to get right after that for us but the movement he could do with his tongue was instantly improved.

My little boy had his done at 5 weeks - he was more upset by being swaddled with his arms in than the actual procedure. Fed straight after with no issues. Within a day we saw a difference in how he was moving his tongue and he immediately stopped leaking milk out the side of his mouth. I was so nervous, got myself in a right stare but it was honestly fine!

My son had a 100% tongue tie and got it cut at a few days old. He was upset and there was a little blood, but I kept him on the breast like the midwife’s were telling me and it helped with any swelling and the pain. He was a little fussy for a few days after but then was fine. It was a few seconds in total and they took him to a different room to do it. Over quickly xx

My daughter had it done last week and it was absolutely fine! Just a little cry and all done within seconds x

My little one had his tongue tie corrected when he was 7 weeks old, he was really unsettled in the evening! However, we have since seen a massive improvement. I just held his head and looked away, he cried for a few seconds and I fed him straight away. Good luck xx

Same as everyone else! I cried before but as soon as it was cut he was brought to me and I fed and it was okay ♥️ It’s made such a difference, totally valid to be nervous though

Thank you so much everyone for sharing! We just had it cut and he cried for two seconds, fed straight away and fell asleep Not nearly as bad as I was expecting! Thank you all!
