Swim lessons

Anyone’s toddler in swim lessons? Last spring/summer we did swim lessons where I would go with her. So it was a parent included class. Last week she started her toddler class and I don’t go in the water with her anymore. Last week and tonight she has cried for me the whole 30 minutes of class and it’s so heartbreaking. I also feel bad for the teacher. Does this go away or what?? She loves the water so I thought she would enjoy it but now I’m thinking of just pulling her out 😭

Yes we do survival swim lessons. It’s 10 minutes. She cries sometimes at this age

I would if there was anywhere near us that did it

I taught at a swim school, and this was pretty common, especially when first transitioning. Sometimes it can help having someone else take them a couple times especially if you are the default parent. My son would cry if I left but when my husband took him he was fine. Doing a couple private lessons first can help and makes it a little less overwhelming but I know it's not always an option. Occasionally kids do better with certain coaches or gender of coach. If all else fails, a little bribery goes a long way.

Yes I have to literally be on the edge of the pool feet in the water for my son to do it. Otherwise he won’t even get in the pool and same that he loves the water and loves the idea of swimming
