Sterilising bottles

So I’m due to be induced in 2 weeks, I want to set up babies feeding station which I’m just going to wash the bottles and sterilise them once he’s here but I want to pack his hospital bag, I’m aware sterilising the bottles only lasts 24hours so probably a stupid question but how are we doing babies bottles for hospital bags are we sterilising them and packing them or will the hospital do that?

Just buy the pre made formula bottles with the teats for the hospital

My hospital gave me the premade tiny bottles that come with the teets.

@Sophie I was gifted some but they didn’t have teats with them , I’m using aptamil milk and can’t find ready made bottles with teats ? Do you know where I could get them? Xxx

I got lots of aptamil with teats from Asda and also Amazon prime xxx

We didn’t realise when we went hospital we took the pre made aptimal formula but they didn’t have teats included so hospital just gave us some and sorted the milk out for us! If not buy the ones with pre sterilised teats can get them from any supermarket :)

Even if you use the ready made ones with teats, baby won’t drink a full bottle at first (think they’re 70ml from memory) and then you’ll waste the rest of the milk because baby has drank from that bottle. Better to pour a little into a bottle and store in the fridge. When I was in hospital there was a little kitchen on the ward especially for sterilising bottles and making feeds (they provided the microwave sterilising bags). But you should check what’s available at your hospital so that you’re ready. You could have a couple of bottles ready to sterilise at home and do them each day when you near your due date or when you feel contractions. But the hospital can provide the first bottle if you haven’t got with you (they did for my first anyway, I was totally clueless 😂). I live so close to the hospital that I just sent my husband back for stuff, so I didn’t really think about this the second time.

@Laura amazing thank you!

@Nikki-Lee thank you! I’m aware they can sterilise my bottles and I was going to take my own as I know they can’t re use the tests off the pre made bottles then the bottles go to waste ☺️ x

Tesco do them x

The war nurses have bags which you put your babies bottles in and they sterilise them for you x

There called DR something bags I can’t think of the second part x

Not all hospitals have bottle making / sterilising facilities. Mine doesn’t for example so you have to have the ones with teats.
