Aspirin in pregnancy

Just had my first midwife appt and because of some risk factors they have told me to start taking aspirin from 12 weeks but also told me not to tell the pharmacist I am pregnant because they won't give it to me because it is not licensed for pregnant women. This just sounds so odd to me? Has anyone else come across this?

Have you been given a prescription? Or just told to get some? x

That’s odd! I have been prescribed aspirin and it was sent to the pharmacy and they knew i was pregnant as they had my exemption certificate. It is licensed for pregnant women and safe to take.

Can buy aspirin anywhere asda, tesco, superdrug, savers, etc. They have 75mg and 150mg, buy the one midwife told you. If you google aspirin during pregnancy, it will maybe make it clearer why the midwife advised to take it

Are you going to buy it over the counter from a pharmacist or is it prescribed? I’ve been on aspirin since I found out I’m pregnant now nearly 11 weeks and I’m still taking it but I’ve either had it prescribed or I’ve bought it over the counter but they did tell me not to tell them I’m pregnant cos it’s not licensed for pregnancy but I wouldn’t be too worried I’ve deffo come across it myself xxx
