Kaiser HMO hospital bill

Hello moms, want to hear from you how much it cost you while you were admitted at the hospital for labor and delivery at Kaiser NorCal, with Kaiser HMO plan. Also mention if it was for vaginal delivery or C section. I am part of my spouse's insurance, but my employer insurance who doesnt offer Kaiser, has an option for hospital indemnity and I'm thinking whether or not to enroll for that. I just changed my employer.

Vaginal delivery, epidural, nicu stay for baby not long from Wednesday night to Friday morning, everything was about $420

I don’t have Kaiser but my company offers additional hospital indemnity through Voya and they gave me over $2k for being in the hospital when I had my son. So the hospital indemnity was definitely worth it.

Hi I think it depends on what kind of plan you have with Kaiser. They have like thousands of different plans. My husband also has Kaiser but mine covers much better so I didn’t get on his plan (he got on my plan). I didn’t have any copay, my plan covered it all. I had vaginal delivery. Maybe you can check with HR for Kaiser rep to find out what does the plan entail and how it compares with your spouse’s plan and then make a decision?

I had a unplanned c section with kaiser. The bill we got was around $2000 on a Gold plan

I highly recommend the hospital indemnity insurance in addition to your kaiser! I forget which plan I had through my employer but it was undoubtedly one of the pricier bc I always go for that with health insurance 😂 I had an unplanned C-section after an induction. Induction started Friday but I went home, admitted to hospital on Saturday, C-section Sunday, discharged Wed. I paid kaiser $1000 and my hospital indemnity insurance gave me $2000. It was crazy to submit the kaiser bill to my hospital insurance company though 😂 it was like $200k without insurance

Planned c section on my spouse’s insurance and we paid $100

My husband’s job offers really good insurance. We didn’t pay a thing. I had a vaginal delivery. We were there for 3 days. I had the option to leave after 2 days but my son had to stay for on more night. I asked if I could stay with him they said yeah. We actually lowered the insurance plan because it was too expensive for all 3 of us. I think with what we have now I would have to pay $2000

@Abby I'm a bit confused, as in our benefits option, we just have Kaiser HMO, without too many custom options in it. No gold/silver options we saw while enrolling.
