Feeds and sleep

Hi all, my 14 week baby has a few minutes of breast + 4oz (120ml) formula every 3 hours during the day, with a last feed at 8pm. Baby sleeps until 4:30am, wakes for a feed and sleeps until 8am. Roughly 7 feeds in 24hrs. I see some babies are drinking alot more quantity but less frequently. Any tips on feed timings and amounts? My baby is generally full after 4oz and won’t have another sip, but I’d like to extend time between feeds as every 3 hours is straining. Thanks!

How much does your baby weigh right now? I hate to say it but it sounds like an excellent routine and with the breastmilk is probably getting the correct amount. You might be able to give little bits more at each feed, try 20 mls extra at each feed and see if baby takes it. Also, baby will likely be hungry for that first am feed so try 150-180mls for that one. Let me know how it goes 🤞

Mine has the exact same routine like yours. I don’t think he’d have more formula even if I tried because he pushes the bottle out.

@Nicole Thanks for the tips! He was 5.8kg 3 weeks ago, so I’d assume just over 6.2kg now. Are mums putting babies to sleep earlier (around 7pm) or later (around 10pm, in the hope of sleeping until early morning like 6am)? Wondering what other people’s routines are like at this stage

So it sounds like anywhere between 800-1000mls should be normal and promote weight gain so I think you’re doing well. I put baby to bed at 7pm. Well, I don’t have a choice. He drops to sleep at 7pm and then wakes at 2am and 4am before finally waking at 6.20am. Each baby is different 🤷‍♀️

we used to do 8:30 for bedtime, but he was always sleepy around 7:30 so we moved it~ now he's up at 11:30-12am, 3-3:30, 5:30-6 and wakes up at 7-7:30 always in half hour variations 🥲 he's on 4 oz at night feeds and mostly 3 oz rarely finishes 4 during the day 🤷🏻‍♀️ (11 weeks soon, I'm hoping he's more like yours in 3 weeks time 😅)
