It depends how close we are to them but I hover around the 20 mark for close friends' kids, then around the 10 mark for others. We've not reached a point of being invited to nursery friends parties or anything like that yet though so I suppose friends I don't really know or aren't close to would be around the 5 mark.
I usually go a book for parties. Unless we know the family/child really well.
Close friends - £20 any other class mates £10 especially if it’s a whole class party
Oh I will add a note.i have a cricut machine so often I will buy a bulk pack of clothes and customise them for each party we go to. So i might spend 20 on a pack of 5 tops but each child gets a custom gift. Which looks worthy lot more than what my total cost is

Honestly I think personally people tend to go crazy. I have a limit of no more than 5.00 per child and that's if they are lucky! My 3 year old probably went to 20 parties this year. It racks up!
