Toddler not bothered by wet pants

We started potty training a couple months ago and seem stuck at this point. My son understands what the potty and toilet are for and can use them, however doesn’t tell before he needs to go, only after he’s had an accident or he does a little bit in his pants and finishes on the potty. There are good days with 1-2 accidents and horrible ones with multiple. At the beginning he was interested in the potty, now we need to encourage him every time and he seems to avoid it more and more. We have done no pants, stickers, books. He just doesn’t want to stop playing and doesn’t seem bothered by wet pants anymore. We don’t want to put him back in nappies, nursery advised to stick to pants. Has anyone been in a similar situation and found a way forward?

Are his trousers also getting wet ? My daughter has accidents and as soon as it’s more on her trousers she gets upset.

Hi Lee, thanks for reply. Yeah trousers are wet too.

My son is similar typically an accident a day almost! He doesn’t tell us when he needs to go we just take him to the toilet very regularly throughout the day and his childminder does the same! We are just persevering and haven’t gone back to nappies! They will get there! My HV also told me boys struggle more with “awareness for needing to go” just given anatomy
