I tend to buy everything second hand then return to charity shop when we’re done with it. Also-Is there a toy library near you?
Do you visit their houses? Can they have a collection of toys there for when you go round? Both our parents do this so we never have anything to bring over when we go apart from clothes, and gives the boys different things to play with while there too :)
My eldest was the first grandchild on both sides and we’re only in a small flat so I told them whatever toys they buy must stay at their house. That way she always has toys when she goes there.
Thanks ladies the charity shops in my area are few and far between and the first few I went to weren't accepting any more due to being inundated over easter! My mum we can't visit as she's a hoarder and doesn't clean her house so that's that and explains her overgufting and the other side of the family is abroad so yes they do keep toys but it feels bad to not take any of the things back with us that they give intending us to take with us. Though we struggle to get it all in the suitcases to go back with so there would be that excuse of sorry we are over the weight limit with the airline 🙈 why is it so emotionally charged? There are some hand me down toys my partners family have passed to my son that they've kept for 20-30-60 years and I feel we cannot get rid of that so would it be rude to give them back as they have an attic where it was the past few decades and my son is too old for it now? No one else in the family is planning on having kids in the next few years to our knowledge.
@Melissa 🤩😍😍😍😍wow, and they accepted that? So understanding of them and you were so smart to predict this situation and set this boundary from the start! I couldn't have imagined during pregnancy just how out of control the overgifting was going to get
@Alex they understood as both sides are in houses and we’re in a 1 bed already bursting at the seams.
Womens shelters, or just give it to someone in need
