I'm going off late as I can just because I can't afford to take any unpaid maternity at the end so I need the full 9 months then I can afford to send baby to nusery with funded house but if you can afford it then I'd definitely go off as soon as I could x
This is my first baby and I’m planning to start mat leave 9 days before my due date as would like to have as much time with baby afterwards as poss 😊
I’m not eligible for stat mat pay so can only claim maternity allowance (which isn’t as much money). As a result, I’m waiting till as close to the due date as I am physically able to, to take my time off as financially it’s not worth taking time off sooner for me :(
Waiting until as close to due date as possible
I'm not working full time like I was with my first and for this reason I'm debating starting mat leave quite a few weeks before my due date because financially that might make more sense for us, but not sure!
I’ve taken AL 2 weeks before my due date, then will be going back to work after 12 weeks as maternity pay is so shocking 🫠
It’s such a shame that as working mum’s we don’t have the luxury of being off early and we have to go back after 9 months 😩😩😩 I cannot afford to go on maternity leave until the very last point (38 weeks) but my manager and I have spoken about me taking all my annual leave beforehand and maybe finding a way to take sick leave too so I don’t have to work after August.
I'm planning to go on maternity leave the week before I'm due ( with AL), just because it gives me the longer at the end. If the maternity pay wasn't so shocking I would go off before but I financially can't xx
