Potty training

I want to start potty training my 2&half year old tomorrow while I’m off work for a week. She’s aware of the toilet and what it’s for/how to use it and will often role play using it with her dolls however she will allow her nappy to get full without complaint. For example she’s woken up this morning so wet that she’s wet through the nappy into her pyjamas and is fine with not being changed if I allowed her. She knows when she needs a poo because she will run and hide out of the way of people to do it. Any tips on starting please as I’m really nervous

We’re going for it this weekend too! Main thing I learnt from potty training my first was: commit. If you’re potty training then f-ing go for it! Stay calm, it’s a new skill they have no idea what they’re doing so accidents will happen, have a mop and bucket ready! Try and catch the easy wins- so just after they’ve eaten or woken up are common times for them to pee so just sit them on the potty and hopefully catch one or two and they’ll start to get the idea. Also don’t pressure them to sit - keep reminding them where the potty is if they feel the need to go but don’t force them and hold them on it- they’ll probably start to resist. Stay strong 💪🏼

We started yesterday and I nearly gave up right away as she had been doing so well telling me when she needed a wee while in nappies but seemed to have no idea in pants! We rent and have carpets so I don't want to leave her naked, she is practising pulling knickers up and down. But today has been a bit better, we've just been really calm and given lots of praise when she successfully goes on the potty and remind her when she's had an accident that she needs to go in the potty next time. I've been giving her the choice "potty or toilet" basically so she can't just say no to going 😂 and taking the travel potty round the house and in the garden with us. I think poo is going to be a bit of a harder battle as she still wants to hide but if we crack wees first it's not so bad. We've got puppy pads for the furniture which I think is a must 😂 and we've committed to just staying home for a few days. I think I'll then pop her in leggings or dresses so they're quick to get off. Good luck!!

The Dr. Becky potty training guide worked really well with my son. It was free when I downloaded it last year.
