Potty training

I planned on starting tomorrow however as we only went out for an hour this morning I thought we would have a try this afternoon when we got home. I wrote a letter from the “toilet fairy” explaining she’s a big girl and she needs to leave her nappies outside in the garden so the toilet fairy can take them to babies. “Arranged with a neighbour who has a baby to come and grab them” if she has wees/poos on the toilet she can have a sticker and also have a surprise tonight (new pyjamas) we are 20 minutes in and she’s already had a wee on there but she hasn’t got off! She’s now using it as a chair! Do I need to get her off?🤣

We just left my step son there, let them get adjusted and comfortable there! Main thing is she's happy on it and comfortable on there! We've got photos of him sat there with a lollipop! Now she's done a wee on there I would make a HUGE deal of it every time too. We used to have a big cheer and if my partner was upstairs we'd call him too and say how amazing it was!

@Bethan she’s done amazing she’s had so many wees on there running to it each time she’s needed to go even leaving our painting activity to go and have a wee within 3 hours she had 7 wees no accidents but soon as her dad walked in she forgot all about the potty and has 2 accidents on the floor

Love the toilet fairy idea may have to use that one for my LG. We started this week but sadly she has been really ill with a viral infection which has set us back but she will also use her potty to sit on as a chair and we just leave her as it gets her used to the potty 😊

@Rebecca honestly I wasn’t sure how it was going to go! Couple of weeks back I started preparing her Easter bunny is coming soon and doesn’t like nappies he only likes big girl knickers so the toilet fairy will come and take the nappies for the babies. Each time I’ve mentioned using the toilet soon she compleltey shuts me off I was dreading it but she done amazing I’m so proud! We popped out this morning so I had wrote a letter and while leaving I popped it through the letterbox without her seeing so when we got home I made a big deal of the toilet fairy has finally come and read her the letter explaining she’s a big girl and needs to leave her nappies outside for the fairy to take to the babies & if she used the potty she could have some stickers which the fairy left in a bag (we had to find to make it more interesting) I also said in the letter if she could use the toilet the fairy would leave a surprise on the bed for bedtime and I bought some new peppa pig pyjamas. My neighbour

Was an absolute saint. I messaged her to say there was some nappies outside if she wanted them as we was toilet training and my dusghrer had left them there for the toilet fairy. She quickly popped over and left some chocolates in replacement which made it even more exciting for my daughter. I hope your little one feels better soon xx

Thats amazing really love that idea 😊 thank you hope so too hate when they are ill 😞 but holding off on the training for a few more weeks when she is more better xx

That's amazing for first day!!! Honestly first few days can be a nightmare. I think I washed about 10 pairs of pants a day. Then he got it. Then he started wandering out into the garden and weeing on the patio 🤦🏻‍♀️ My partner now says "he never had any accidents while we were training him".... 👀 They get there though and that's completely normal with Dad. Distraction, different environment etc can have an effect. Oh another thing I'll mention as we didn't realise until half way through. You can't train nighttime dryness, it's a brain signal thing from the bladder to the brain causing them to wake up when they need the toilet. What we did early was limit couple hours drinks before bed time. Then incorporated a before bed wee into his routine and then a "morning wee". We did go back into pull ups at night for a little while as he was getting upset when he'd have an accident in bed but still did the same routine to encourage it.
