Chickenpox

We’ve just noticed our 2.5 year old has chickenpox. I also have a 7 week old (no immunisation yet obv). Is this dangerous? I can’t find anything consistent on the internet.

When I was in the hospital after birth we had a scare of chicken pox. The children’s doctor assured me that my baby was immune for the first 2 months of their lives from my antibodies (given you’ve had it previously had it) x

I did have it when I was young. Thanks for letting me know! X

Hey! My baby had it when he was 7 weeks old. I had it when i was a kid and i was also breastfeeding(and using formula, as I wasn’t making enough milk). So i think the info on antibodies is a bit outdated as it depends on a lot of factors, when you had it as a kid, how sick you were (if it was a strong virus or weaker), and so on. My baby didn’t have a fever, but we did use calpol as per the GPs instructions since he was less than 8 weeks old. His rash waspretty bad especially on his face. And now he has a mark where the first one appeared. I would say based on what i heard from other that is not as bad for babies as it is for adults for example. And also don’t be scared, they are really strong even tho they are so tiny xx

My sister was born with chickenpox because I gave it to my mum when she was pregnant and all was completely fine!
