Road trip before 9months old?

Me and my boyfriend are considering taking our baby on a road trip in between 4-9 months. Apparently after nine months it’s not easy to travel and I think we’ll still be getting used to having a baby before 4! If we do do this, how long do we think is a reasonable amount of time i.e. is a month too long? Thinking Italy ..and obviously taking regular breaks in travel times !

I think they're only meant to be in car seat for 2 hours at a time at that age

I'm not sure though check

I don't have my own yet, I'm still pregnant, but when our nephew was around 4 months old when they did a 12 hour car journey, but just made regular stops and stopped at a hotel on route. This was is Italy and so they didn't have the baby in the car seat the whole time, however I think the laws in UK at least require baby to be in car seat the whole time they are in the car. It may be possible but you'd have to stop a lot and the trip may look very different for that

I think what you think you can do with a baby when you’re pregnant and the realities can be very different, depending on your child. If you’re keen I’d book any accommodation etc you can cancel free of charge and see how you feel when baby is here. Our LO is ace but he didn’t sleep until 27 months. We were up 4-16 times a night. A road trip would have been a shocker. You can get lay flat car seats (even whilst in the car) if you’re serious about doing it x

We took our LO away for 6 weeks at 3.5MO and it worked perfectly. We did a ‘road trip’ but it was more multi-destination. Travelling 1-2hrs then having 2-3 days in a place before. It was super easy and I’d absolutely recommend it. We did take a ‘lie-flat’ car seat which attached to a stroller frame so it was both a pram and car seat. Our Artipoppe was my best friend for the trip though ❤️. I used it every day - super convenient for a road trip xx
