That’s a decision for you to make about your specific situation really. Placenta deterioration at term is a “can happen” not a “will happen” - Jo explained the signs to watch for quite well in the link you sent, and that’s all I’d advise you to read through anyway! You’ll find that everyone takes a different approach - many take early induction when it’s offered, others (like myself) decline early induction in favour of additional checks to monitor baby. I chose the latter as my GD has been well controlled, baby has been measuring 50th percentile throughout and all other things look good too (no other issues). But even though I waited past the 40+6, I’m still sat in hospital waiting to get the induction process started as baby is showing no signs of leaving!
@Kate thanks for sharing. Hope it goes well for you. Best wishes ✨🌸
I ended up getting induced at 40+3, mainly because they put so much fear into me I think I was too anxious to go into spontaneous labour. Had three sweeps starting at 39 weeks no idea if they helped but I was already 1.5cm dilated at the first sweep. I was lucky just needed the pessary and she was born 21 hours after they put it in. Once they put it in we went for a long walk around the hospital grounds then went to sleep and at 2am the contractions started. My best advice would be to follow your gut. Induction didn’t feel right for me until that day, I’d even been booked in the day before and cancelled it. Just needed one more day!
