Follow on milk

Don’t want any advice saying they’re not needed etc Moved onto stage 2 cow & gate and every day since my daughter has woken up in the morning and done an explosive watery poo. Very smelly, yellow and runny. Her poo was always like that when she was solely on milk, changed when she went onto solids and now back to that again. We already ruled out CMPA with the dr. Do you think it’s just her body adjusting to the new milk? She also had cows milk in her Weetabix and omelette. I wonder if she struggles with lactose but never been able to diagnose anything since birth.

As far as I am aware they shouldnt have cows milk until 12 months old. You can find out more on app Solid Starts. With the follow on milk I read it should be introduced slowly, we are doing 1-2 spoons of new formula and the rest of old formula but we just started a few days ago. Will be increasing the amount of new milk every few days.

Just asking but why did you move onto stage 2? X

@Justyna it's OK to offer cows milk in food, but shouldn't be a main drink until they are 1 x https://solidstarts.com/milk-milk-alternatives-for-babies-toddlers/

How long have you been on number 2 milk? We switched and didn’t notice a change in poos at all. Could be she just needs an adjustment period, speak with your HV about how long it should be but from top of my head I think it’s 3 days xx

@Jess if her HV is judgy asking for advice from them won't be a good idea remember they tell us to stay on stage 1 there's no need to go onto stage 2. ...

@Rhiannon I think it’s each to their own, sometimes they love to see a ftm coming and treat them completely different to a stm. We’ve had the same HV for both our children and I still don’t like her but this time round she just answers questions instead of telling me what to do. If the original poster is happy to be on number 2 milk she just needs advice on the change nothing further xx

Might just take a little adjustment. There's nothing wrong with moving onto stage 2 milk, equally nothing wrong with staying on the stage 1, personal choice. It's because there's usually very little nutritional difference between them - follow on milk is like a loop hole companies use because legally they can't advertise first infant formula, but they can advertise "follow on" formula so it's how they get around it!
