Pregnancy test question

I need some advice! I was 6 days late for my period. Took a test and it was positive. But the next day I woke up to sudden heavy bleeding and on day 3 of bleeding. My doctor told me to go to the er the same day bleeding started and they did a urine test and it was negative. I left confused and they just just to text every 2 days for a couple of days. I'm thinking my test was a false postive?
