What feeding method are you doing? Not tips per se but things to rule out/consider if the colic is non stop: - Tongue tie, can be hard to diagnose and a TT practitioner needs to assess with gloved hands inside of mouth or it’s impossible to know (midwives/GPs/health visitors are generally are NOT trained in this l, and especially if they just look and don’t feel, it’s not good enough). - CMPA. Very common, easy to cut cows milk from diet if EBF (hence my Q), not so much if formula as you would need a prescription. Google the symptoms and speak to GP if you think it aligns. You would need to cut for 6 weeks, see if things improve, then reintroduce (challenge) and see if symptoms return to confirm an intolerance. - Tension from birth, a cranial osteopath could help here. - Underdeveloped gut, this just takes time to resolve. I personally feel like reflux or silent reflux always have a cause but it’s not easy to identify and sometimes time is the best healer, it’s all a phase ♥️
Have you tried infacol/ gripe water ? Are you sure it’s colic ? A dummy we recommend to help soothe the pain My son is 5 weeks and started suffering this week with colic it’s really tough but hang in there you got this
If it’s none of the above I know a great position to hold baby in and relieve some trapped wind. Sit up and hold baby so they are also sat up with their back against yours. Push their legs up so their knees are bent and they’re touching their tummy. It’s almost like they’re in a squat. Hold them in this position for about 5 mins after a feed. My little girl will instantly relax and I can hear the wind move around. It helps her pass wind but also go to the toilet. Hope it works x
Yoga ball, extractor fan (as in the actual one in your kitchen) and baby carrier. Walks when you can outside with baby in the carrier, when not possible we relied on bouncing on the yoga ball with baby in our arms/ carrier. The extractor fan was a random suggestion from our health visitor and it always calmed him slightly- sometimes I spent two hours on a yoga ball bouncing in my kitchen with the fan on 🙈🤣 Also… headphones or earplugs. They help keep you calm which helps hugely. Honestly I really feel for you as my first was SO hard during 6-12 weeks. Just know as hard as it is in the moment you will one day look back and go “god I forgot about doing that”
My baby is 8 weeks and he’s the same. Dr Browns bottles have helped (we’ve tired virtually every other brand) burping him all the time, holding him in my arms with his stomach facing down and love to dream swaddles soothe him too. Maybe ask your gp or health visitor to check for a tongue tie too
