Working on it, on her terms. 🥰
We’re currently on day 4!
Aug 22 baby, currently on Day 3
@Lauren we are on day 7 and debating giving up and retrying later🙈 this poll reassures!
We've tried twice. She will happily sit on the potty but would rather stand up and pee herself than do it in the potty. She shows all the signs of being ready.... she just clearly loves me mopping the floor more 🤣
We've been potty trained since January.. we'll start nighttime potty training once our daughter is three in December
In process 3 weeks in 😭😭
We’re on day 3!
Tried a few times, but she definitely wasn't ready. Hated wearing pants, would NOT sit on the potty. Have since got a step up toilet thing which she uses semi regularly but won't wear pants AT ALL yet!
We’ve been potty trained since November! You definitely need to be ready for it as much as your wee one! Our wee one was telling us she was doing toilet etc so knew it was time to try. Then we just made sure to clear our schedules and spend a full week in the house to dedicate time to it. Not gonna pretend it was sunshine and roses but we got there.
@Vicki wow, your little ones language was really far ahead which must have helped
It definitely did! I call her my wee old woman as she’s a proper chatterbox. Feel like she’s been here before with some of the stuff she says. Every wee one is different. We roughly followed the oh crap method and it worked for us but I know friends that it didn’t work for x
@Vicki language definitely helped us! I could have done my little one last year because she was so ready, but I wasn’t not pregnant 😂
My 2 year old just isn’t ready yet! I’ve tried him nappy free. He still doesn’t have the language to say yet if he’s wet/ done a poo. But he does hide to do a poo now! I’m off work for 7 weeks in July for summer holidays gonna be trying then as I think he might be a bit more ready then xxx

My daughter got it right away and was doing awesome. Peeing, pooping on her potty wherever we were - in public etc. then one day like a month later, she just pooped in her underwear 2x and I was really struggling with my new baby at the time so I took a step back and she’s back in nappies. I’ll be trying again after our big trip in May. I was feeling really bad about going backwards but realised for sanity it was ok. Doesn’t have to be perfect the first time ❤️
March 2023 baby and it took us 5 weeks for him to be fully day potty trained and what I mean by that is- him going to get the potty himself when he wants to pee/poo. Night potty training left now
We had a potty available from about 8/10 months and he would sit on it first thing, after naps, before bath etc. Often would do a wee and reliably would do a poo each morning from 1 yr. Childminder didn’t support potting him, so was a bit hybrid for a year. After the first week at a new nursery (age 24 months) he announced whilst throwing nappies down the stairs “no nappy, just pants” so that’s what we’ve been doing since then! First month there were accidents, but so rare these days. Very proud Mum-Mum!
@Alice we tried elimination communication but my son crawled before he could sit!! So at 9 months would crawl off potty (and would not sit unsupported)
We potty trained a couple of weeks ago, but still in nappies/pull ups over night and for nap time. So far she’s doing amazingly and it’s been so much easier than I had anticipated. That said I’ve heard that lots of kids have regressions with it so I know we might still have that to come.
@Tori how did you go about it?
We’d always modelled going to the toilet with her, so she was used to seeing us go and a few months ago she asked to go for a “quick wee” which is what we always say when going to the toilet so I held her on the toilet . Then after that she’s occasionally ask and started doing the odd wee and poo on the toilet and so whenever she did she got lots of fuss and praise and then I started asking her if she wanted to go before and after nap time and the bath she didn’t always and I’d never pressure her, just gave her the option. Then after a couple of months of that I decided I should give it a proper go as she seemed interested and I didn’t want to lose that window of opportunity. But I don’t have any clear stretches of days with nothing planned and I currently have a 4 month old as well so it wasn’t ideal but I’d already put it off for over a month with excuses so decided to give it a go…
…First day was a full day at home and she wasn’t wearing anything on her bottom half (full Donald Duck mode activated). I had a potty downstairs in the living room where we spend most of our time and one upstairs in her bedroom for easy access and encouraged her to sit on it or the toilet every 15 mins or so. She weed almost every time and I’d make a big fuss of her each time, and she didn’t have any accidents. Next day we did the same in the morning but she was out for the afternoon with my mum so I put her on the toilet before she left, then she wore a nappy whilst out as I thought it was too much on day 2, but got my mum to take her to the toilet at regular intervals whilst out, and when she came home the nappy came off again. The 3rd day was nursery so she wore knickers and they took her to the toilet every 20 mins and she didn’t have any accidents…
…Then from then on she’s been in knickers. We were asking her every 20 mins or so and if she didn’t want to we’d ask/remind her again 10 mins later then every 5 mins until she wanted to. We also offer before a nap, car journey, going out or leaving somewhere and whenever we went to the toilet. We have had the odd accident, probably about 4 over the last 2 weeks, mainly when I’ve been forgotten to offer/remind her . But fortunately since starting she’s clearly improved her bladder control as we now only offer every hour or so if she’s not gone. As I was panicking at the start about how we would ever do anything if she needed to wee every 15 mins 😂 And she is also now asking to go now which is making it easier.
We’re not December 2022 we’re July 2023 but we’ve just managed to finish potty training completely and I’m so glad because my god it’s hard 🤣
