Starting formula?

My 7 month old boy, who is EBF, doesn't seem to be satisfied with his milk anymore. He gets frustrated after a feed and will eat loads of solids straight after. Could this mean I no longer produce enough milk for him? Should I supplement with formula? He started waking frequently for a feed too, which led to cosleeping to survive..

Have you looked into BLW? I wouldnt supplement as it will drive your supply dowm even more. Have you had a lot of stress? Have you tried foods, teas and supps to suppprt milk production.

Have you tried offering food first......then given a feed later on?

@Elle (i can't see waves) you’re supposed to offer milk first before food, that’s their main source of nutrition for the first year

@Kirsty yes, he feeds himself most of the time and occasionally spoon-fed. Haven't tried that no, do you have any sources with more info on foods, supps etc?

@Jaima Ahhh I've seen your in the USA .... We get told different things in the UK.... I've been a parent for 17yrs! My youngest is 1 and I've always been told to offer the food first. Each to their own but as I say going by uk guidance from professionals , that's what I've always been told for each of my babies 😉

@Jaima Also I mean to write I do mean from when they start eating purees and solids etc....obviously I know from birth, the first source is milk but as I say when starting out , I've always been told offer food first then the milk 👌

Thats good. Blw is awesome and so simple with no puree etc and no extra prepping required to your meal etc great ways to weave it in. Just do a little bit of googling and see what you have in your area. Im in Australia and we have loads of brands that make them (teas, breastfeeding cookies and shakes etc). You could also contact a naturopath and discuss with them so its tailored to your bodies needs

I wouldn't over think it too much, if you've had a good supply up to now it's probably not an issue with you. With starting solids there are loads of changes and some babies love it and their milk intake goes down lots fairly quickly especially in the day- might be why he's feeding at night more. As long as he's getting enough nutrition in general- i.e. protein, carbs as well as vegetables plus some milk and he's still tracking with weight gain i would give him some time to settle more into the changes.
