Weight gain

My little boy is exclusively breast fed and 10 weeks old , he was born 6lb 9 and now only 9lb 12 and still fitting in newborn , we also had health visitor and she said he has gone down a centile on the chart and may not be getting enough milk wich has made me go round in circles worrying, has anyone been in the same boat or in a similar situation . Please don’t recommend formula as I don’t want too.

Dropping just the one centile is not usually cause for concern. The growth charts they use are based on formula fed babies anyway! Just keep putting baby to breast as often as possible and as long as he’s having plenty of wet and dirty nappies that’s a good indication that everything’s fine. This information from La Leche League may be useful x https://laleche.org.uk/is-my-baby-getting-enough-milk/

Thankyou so much yeah he’s really content baby always has wet and soiled nappies x

@Melissa this isn't quite right, the charts used in the red book have been based on breastfed babies since 2009

Don't worry about one centile, they often find their own line. You could get him weighed again in another 2 weeks and see. If he is gaining, and lots of wet and dirty nappies, then all is well.
