Early Ovulation

Does anyone ovulate really early? This is my first month tracking ovulation with tests (rather than going off of the calendar). I had my period April 13-17 and then no bleeding on the 18. On the 19th, I had some light brown spotting in my underwear but when I used a pad it was totally clean. I figured it was just blood that was slow to leave. I started testing on the 19th (I have an average of a 26 day cycle and that was day 7- a little early but I wanted to try the tests out) but the one I took was late at night because I wanted to do a practice run. Now I'm on day 9, when the box suggests I start testing, and the last 3 tests have been negative without the test line getting any darker (and possibly lighter). Could I have missed ovulation on the 18th or 19th? That's about a week before the calendar predicts it could happen. Thanks for any advice!
