I took my girl today and she has a cavity in the back bottom row of her mouth and they put some medicine that stains the tooth black on it to treat it until they can do a filling. We’re going back in three months for a fluoride treatment and to reapply the medicine. You could see what your dentist thinks about that medicine if you’re unsure

My baby had this done except she was getting crowns !! it’s a quick and scary process 😞she was crying and screaming but it’s super quick and simple process. They numb them so NO pain !! Just scared of the noises

Dental assistant here with a 3yr old of my own. Strapping a child down is the safest option. It’s for his protection. Children can be unpredictable when using needles or anything that a kid can hit or harm himself. Ofcourse we try to be comforting same so patient with them. We want to keep the kid 100% safe. My kid has 2 cavities & their dentist wants to wait until they have more so the can sedate him to do it. I ran when I was told that. More money out of my pocket & my child does not need sedation due to the effects. Also depending on how small the cavity is you can avoid a filling all together. Other times not

I want my child numbed and strapped to have his done. Or if it’s small enough the medicine to treat it.
