Advice on infant car seats

Looking for some recommendations for infant car seats. Baby is currently in 95th percentile (10 months) and ready to move up. We currently have maxi Cosi pebble with family fix base. I wanted a car seat to fit this (pearl) but I’ve not heard good things, they’re expensive, and I feel it just won’t last them long! Are infant car seats now only seatbelts for rear facing? Would prefer isofix but not if it costs the earth! We have twins so would be looking at around £150-£250 each.

What’s your budget? Isofix won’t last on the 95th centile x

@Kiera sorry just updated before I saw your comment. We have twins so £150-£250 each, what do you mean won’t last? Thank you x

Isofix is only good for children 50th centile or below as they are outgrown at 18kg/105cm with most seats. An isofix seat will only last you to 2.5/3 years old based on their centiles. Can your budget increase at all? For a longer lasting option xx

Ah okay that makes sense! Yes happy to look at any out of budget as long as they last longer than 4 years! Xx

What car have you got? Is space an issue or any tall people regularly in it? If no, then the Britax Safeway M is currently £170 with ‘little peas’. These are pretty big seats though. If space is an issue, Axkid movekid is the cheapest suitable option that will last. If you go on Britax and Axkid website and look at your closest retailers, you can see who is near you to try the seats out in your car before you buy xx

Thank you for this! I have seat aroma and my partner is 6’5, but I definitely need a new car as space is an issue (I’ve just been really putting it off) 🥲

I would definitely opt for the Axkid then if you can stretch, a lot of retailers do pay monthly, some over 12 months, but they are £295 on sale atm🥴 If you still wanted isofix for now and then are happy to pay for a long lasting seat when they are around 2.5/3, something like the graco slimfit R129 (non isofix but cheap) or Joie ipivot, graco turn2me DLX are within budget but again on the chunky side xx
