Work related
Hiya, just been curious and trying to get some work advice related
So, I have a 10 month old, and always thought I’d place him into nursery and go back to work. Here I am, leaving my job so I can spend some more time with him and send him into a nursery when he’s a little bit older, maybe 16-18 months or something similar. I’m just looking for some advices, from your own experience: like how hard it is to get a job after such long time off work? I’m working in business and having bachelor degree in business and management, already having some pretty good experience in this field, but not sure how staying at home for this time of period will affect my career and development? How likely employers are willing to hire someone with such big gap of unemployment? I’m trying to figure it out how to plan the future really, and understand how staying at home with my little one a little longer will affect my career.
Thank you for getting so far and reading the whole thing 🌼
Hiya, so I’m a teacher & decided to quit my job and not go back as I just wanted to spend time with my son .. they aren’t little for long 😩 I didn’t put him into nursery until he was 18 months but that was only half a day once a week. He really started to enjoy nursery at 2 years old and went 2 days. When he was 2.5 years old that’s when I started doing agency work .. 1 or 2 days a week. He’s now 3 so goes more to nursery and loves it but I still just do a day or 2 a week as agency isn’t always guaranteed. I did apply for some teaching jobs full time and got offered 2 but I found the employer was also a mother so she may have understood why I took time out to be a stay at home mum. I didn’t end up taking the jobs in the end as it didn’t feel right. I do plan to go back to work but when he starts school. It’s difficult as my career has been put on pause but ultimately I’ve loved spending time with my son. Financially it’s also been tough but you learn to manage and budget ☺️
