Advice on Tdap vaccine

Hey mamas! I’m currently pregnant and living in Quebec, Canada. At my appointment today, my nurse was really encouraging me to get the whooping cough (Tdap) vaccine. She said it’s highly recommended during pregnancy (even though it’s not mandatory). I told her I needed time to think about it because I’m hesitant about taking any vaccines while pregnant. I consider myself more on the crunchy/natural side and want to make informed choices, especially when it comes to my baby’s health. I’d love to hear from other like-minded mamas: Did you get the Tdap vaccine during pregnancy? If you opted out, what influenced your decision? Any important info, warnings, or side effects I should be aware of? I’m just trying to gather as much insight as I can before making a decision. Appreciate any guidance or personal experiences!

It was a hard no for meeeeeee. Justtheinserts has a breakdown of it. A combo vax for only one element (if you wanted the “p” protection out of a “tdap”) of it is excessive in my opinion especially as they recommend if for each pregnancy so for some that’s like every 18 or so months, the treatment for pertussis is high doses of vitamin C (I believe the protocol is in the book “dissolving illusions” if I remember correctly)

Regarding tetanus: This resource is incredible for information, but a quick summary: only grows in an environment where wounds do not bleed, a proper cleaning of a non-bleeding (soap, peroxide, Epsom salt soak) wound would prevent any complications, and the concern is in manure-rich soil, not a rusty nail. https://deeprootsathome.com/fun-facts-on-tetanus-rusty-nails-horses/ There's also other options for prevention after exposure (if your child has a puncture wound from playing in manure-rich soil that is deep to thoroughly clean and does not bleed) - homeopathic ledum pasture and hypericum would be a great fit, and very cost effective!

Regarding pertussis: 1994 Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA)- This study showed that 11% of vaccinated children had asthma and developed pertussis, as compared to 0.08% of unvaccinated children. -1998 JAMA - 98% of children with pertussis were vaccinated for the disease in the study. -1989 Morbidity and Mortality Report - Discovered that pertussis outbreaks occurred in 100% vaccinated populations. -2000 Danish Study - The increase in pertussis incidence is higher amongst vaccinated populations than it is non-vaccinated populations of all ages -1988 JAMA - There is substantial under reporting of pertussis in the United States. Pertussis occurs at a far greater rate now than before the introduction of the vaccine.

I didn't want to get it but was pressured and eventually caved. My baby was pretty active but after the shot he didn't move for a whole day! Now he is 2 and doing pretty well, but I'm never doing that again!
