Some kiddos struggle with this and usually it’s due to not being able to see their parent. They make baby mirrors you can attach to the seat in front of them allowing them to see you in your mirror. Another idea is their favorite blanket or stuffed animal if they have one.. this can be a soothing comfort for them while in the rides. My absolute favorite thing I purchased was VTECH Myla the Monkey Baby Sleep Sound Machine…I would hook it to the side of the baby carrier and was able to set a timer on it playing soothing music or sounds with a light glow on the face of the monkey. My little on loved this and it was the only way we could go anywhere in his car seat… I started taking it with me EVERYWHERE! Idk if this will help cuz all littles are different BUT I hope it helps a little with atleast just some ideas.
I haven't reached this stage yet but I've heard so so many people have this issue and have changing to the next stage car seat help. otherwise is there a toy that may help or a certain song? My baby has me listening to the happy song by Imogen Heap, 5 little ducks, bear in the big blue house and teletubbies theme songs on repeat when she's in a mood in the car. She used to be constantly but i found that if I gave her her taggy (a soft hanky sized blanket with tags sown around the edge) she does a lot better. She likes how soft it is and likes to suck on the tags if she drops her dummy. She's a bit younger so may not be helpful but thought it was worth the mention
It was a HUGE night and day difference switching to the convertible (toddler to big kid) car seat. My daughter seemed to hate the infant seat. I changed her at 6 months and it saved my sanity. I couldn’t drive 5 minutes without her screaming bloody murder. Made my PPA go through the roof. I’d definitely try a convertible car seat!
Also “the happy song” by Imogen heap, helped my daughter too!
Forward facing.
Thank you all for great advice 🙏🏼 The happy song used to work when she was 6 months and now she just screams through it all. Honestly most of the time one of us is sitting in the back seat next to her to comfort her but she seems not to care so that makes me think it’s her protesting against being strapped in the carseat itself and not just being alone. I’m looking at next convertible car seats right now hope that changes things. Thank you all again 😘
Check straps aren’t too tight, shoulders aren’t cramped, mirror/toys as distraction, it’s not too cold/hot, check nappy before being in the car. And in all honesty I just play my music at a reasonable volume 🤷🏻♀️ my 3 kiddos are 3, 2 & 10wks but they’ve never had any problems in the car (my older 2 once did 22hrs in the car across 1.5 days - minimal pitstops for checks/changes/food).
Forgot to say she is 11 months old so almost ready for toddler car seat.
