Baby pops

Hi, my baby is 11 weeks old. I have recently changed her over to SMA anti reflux and regurgitation milk. Since the change she has been having green runny poos. Is that normal?

I was told green poos are normal especially during a formula change (we’ve been through many) I’m still not 100% convinced because my Lo still has green poos and he’s now been on the same formula for weeks but the doctors keep reassuring me that it’s fine

Green poos are normal for formula fed babies, if I remember correctly

Ok that’s good to know. What about them being runny?!

I was told 2 weeks to adjust to a new formula properly so I’d keep an eye on them for that length of time and also watch out for signs of dehydration in the meantime just in case If it helps, my son has only ever had runny poos really, I think that’s just normal for him!

Despite the green ooo, do you recommend the milk? Have you had any constipation on the SMA? I wondered about changing to it. We are using the Aptimil Reflux one but can only manage a couple of the night feeds on it as it cause her constipation. We have the use another formula in the day.

I haven’t had any issues with constipation so far. I wouldn’t say it’s completely resolved the reflux though, she is still sick after some feeds and spits up for a while after. Does the aptamil reflux milk stop the reflux altogether? In terms of the poo colour it’s dark green with some bits

When we used anti reflux we were told it will make their poo change to a really thick consistency which it did. Like really thick!! Have you seen your GP about the runny green? Always worth checking. Or a health visitor at a family hub x

The Aptamil was amazing, it was like I had a different baby on it haha but the poo turned to like hard rubber and got stuck coming out. If you wanted to try it I’d suggest doing it gradually for a few feeds and see how it goes. My baby poo is yellow on it. Although when she was on Kendall it was green. It works at night time beautifully but my baby wasn’t as sick as what yours sounds like, she would choke and be really unsettled when I laid her down, occasionally being sick. I had to hold her up at nighttime, it was exhausting but now we are getting more sleep as we can lay her down now.

@Sophie having the exact same with my baby. 11 days post vaccine green runny poos. Been drs he wasn’t concerned due to being only once a day. Mentioned at A&E as baby developed rash and they said not concerned as not frequent and baby seems fine. Before vaccine never had poos like this! Is so worrying. X
