We had the same experience as Liv. Still on omeprazole. I would try the gaviscon though.
We now have carobel and worked so much better than omeprazole for our boy! With our first, Omeprazole worked better for her though. Our boys not been constipated on carobel thankfully x
As your baby is a February baby, and likely under 12 weeks old- it’s probably just an undeveloped digestive system. Lots of muslins and hang in there a few more weeks. There can be no rhyme or reason to it, and if the vomiting is solely due to the gut’s immaturity- no medication will help.
My girl has had gaviscon the last few days, we currently give her one sachet a day which seems to help and does not make her consipated either. The gp has told me I do not have to give all six sachets that is recommended as that would most likely cause consipation, so I give her one or she had max two. We'll go back to review tomorrow. The soaked muslins have gotten less though.
My LB is 9 weeks and has had silent reflux for 6/7 weeks. He’s been on gaviscon for around 5 weeks now and is doing amazing 🥰 Our first two weeks using it he was on apatamil formula and he was horrendously constipated (I’m talking play dough poop and crying in pain when trying to go) We’ve since switched to Kendamil goat and he’s been much better! The combination of the two really works for us- we give him some lactulose if we notice he’s seeming bunged up (prescribed with gaviscon for us) It looks like ours may be a dairy protein allergy as he’s suffered with very loose stools since birth - the combination helps to get his stools looking as they should We also notice he burps more on gaviscon and will occasionally spit up (never did before being prescribed -which may not sound like an improvement but it definitely it for him) We tend to alternate feeds every other or every 2 feeds with a gaviscon
I’ve tried to koala holds - while breastfeeding as much as I can , and keeping baby upright after a feed for 20 mins . Harder to do during night feeds as I’m more tired but helps keep more of the milk down. LO still has reflux which is worst in the night / morning but gets easier to manage in the day.
Gaviscon made our son constipated so we stopped it after two days and tried omeprazole instead - he is still on this as it’s helped lessen the sick. Personally worth trying in my opinion (i think they usually will give gaviscon first then omeprazole after)
