Making bottles

Struggling to wrap my head around bottle prep. The formula box says to boil 1 litre kettle and leave for 30 mins then make bottle. Surely we don't have to boil 1 litre for 1 bottle and wait that long? Night feeds will be a nightmare Health visitor said not to use a prep machine and can't pre-make bottles to heat later. So confused..if you can't warm them up later why is there bottle warmers. Ftm please don't judge so overwhelmed and days away from DD

Buy the nuby rapid cool to make your bottles. There's loads of videos on how to use on tiktok and YouTube using the hot shot method. It is compliant with NHS guidelines too 🥰

If you want to use prep machine use it, if you want to pre make the bottles do it. The advice changes almost as frequently as babies nappies. Find what works for you. I pre made the bottles for my now 17 and 15 year olds and they are thriving and over 6ft. I’m using the prep machine for baby girl when at home and the rapid cool for out and about.x

What we used to do with our 3 children was make up the fresh water in the bottles and store in the fridge when they cooled, but leave one in the bottle warmer on the low warm setting, then when baby was ready to feed, the water was the right temp straight away and all we had to do was add the formula, then take a bottle from the fridge and add to the warmer ready for the next feed. If we formula feed for baby number 4 then we'll do the same process again. Helps with saving so much time

I can’t help with the formula making but we used the bottle warmer for reheating breastmilk as my other half would feed our first born when I went back to work. As others have said, I’ve heard the RapidCool is really good for formula as this is what my BIL used with his little one. I believe they’re on offer at Aldi at the moment ☺️

@Amy how long did you keep pre-made bottles and did you store in the fridge?

@Iona sorry just want to make sure I understand. So you boil the water and essentially have just the water in the bottles in the fridge when add the formula and warm?

Yep, so get your clean bottles. Fill with boiling water, whatever the amount is that baby drinks. Let cool. Put bottles in fridge, but leave one in the bottle warmer on the low setting so it keeps the temp just right for feeding. Then replace with one from the fridge ready for the next feed. Add the formula amount & you're good to go. We did this with all three of our other children and worked absolute wonders for saving time, especially when super tired.

There will be no need to warm because you'll be using the bottle of water that's been in the warmer waiting for the next feed

@Iona that's so helpful thankyou I'm going to make a note of this. It sounds like a great way to manage the night feeds without having to buy anything else
