My little girl wasn’t latching properly when breastfeeding she had the procedure done at around 10 days old

My boy had it done at about 4 weeks

My daughter was 5 weeks old

My daughter had it done at 3 weeks but it didn’t help her latch the breast 🥺 xx

My 13 weeks old baby is having problems wirh feeding

My first had it done at 10 weeks, this one was at 5 days old

@Adele 13 weeks old can also had it ??

@Iqra it is worth mentioning to your GP and see if they can do baby a referral. It can for many babies be a game changer! X

Mine had it done at 13 weeks

@Shevaun referral has been made by midwife yesterday, i was worried what if they will refuse?

@Jub would you be able to tell me about ? How was your experience? How much did it help the baby? And was it done under anesthesia or without anesthesia?

@Shevaun i hope your baby and you are doing well.

11 weeks

@Iqra it was pretty straightforward. Less than a minute procedure. They used the scalpel to make the cut after the doctor made an assessment whiles I was holding the baby’s head. No analgesics/ anaesthesia given. My Little one bled a little bit I breastfed straight away and the bleeding stopped. He pretty much settled by the time we got home. Post procedure, latching is better and fussiness during feeding has reduced

@Iqra are you experiencing problems with feeding/ latching/ weight gain/ excessive gas? I was told by the doctor who released my son’s that they only release the tie when the baby is experiencing some sort of problems with feeding. With the referral, I wouldn’t worry too much about them refusing you. My midwife made the appointment twice. I also contacted the health visitors to chase the clinic up. However the appointment I got to be seen was two months ahead. If your LO is gaining some weight, then exercise some patience for the appointment. Otherwise, follow up with the midwives/Hv to chase the clinic for an appointment for you.

@Jub ye my LO is having all these problems gassy, latch issue, slow weight gain, burps all the time even when not fed. Plus fussyness around feeds

Mine had the procedure at 8 weeks but it reattached so had it done again at 12 weeks and now feeding is so much better and he is always poking his tongue out. It still hasn’t fixed his reflux and gas though so he’s on omeprazole
