Is a play kitchen worth it?

My son will be 20 months when my baby girl will be born and want to get him a good toy. He loves slamming the doors of our sideboard and putting things in it. I've been looking at the IKEA one? I want something that will last and not look dented after a few uses, it will be in our living room

My LG got one for her 1st birthday which was a week ago and it’s all she’s played with since. I thought it was just a novelty thing and she’d play with it the first day then that’d be it but she doesn’t leave it alone and she also slams the cupboards😂my mum works in a nursery and says that all the kids love to play with the kitchen even the 3/4 year olds so it’ll definitely last. I can happily leave her to play with it and go and wash up or whatever in the next room and she doesn’t even realise that I’m gone because she’s distracted playing so it’ll be good to keep him distracted when you’re busy with the baby xx

My daughter has had her play kitchen for probably 5 years now and she still plays with it! I think hers was from Asda

We got the IKEA kitchen for our daughter’s 1st birthday, so we’ve had it for over 3 years and it’s held up well. She doesn’t actually play with it much (never has 🤪) BUT our little boy (nearly 2yo) has played with it a lot ever since he could move. He loves “cooking” on the stove and getting things in and out of the cupboards.

100% worth it! We got one as a gift from Lidl I think the brand is called playtive, it was on sale for £45 at the time, usually more in the 80£ bracket but it comes with all the utensils, pots and pans, apron etc xx Might be worth checking in store

@Sarah we have this one too it’s really good my little guy loves the sound effects and lights ☺️

We got ours from smyths but we have the ikea one in the baby room at the nursery where I work and it’s stood the test of time! Still going after quite a few years!

I think play kitchen and real life toys are so cute and they love it pretending theyre grown. Definitely do it because once baby girl is old enough (even my 1yo starting to play with my 3+2) theyll play together with it, we lost majority the pieces and they still go at it every other day ‘making brefast’

Absolutely love ours! Got it just after he turned 2 and it’s the thing he plays with most at home for sure. I’m not sure about the IKEA one as ours was a hand me down from a friend, but I don’t think they need to be super fancy for them to enjoy it. And you can always get more little bits to go on/in it!

I got my son a Walmart one for his first birthday - he’s 2 now and he still plays with it all the time! Before it was like learning what he can do and mirroring what we do in the kitchen - now it’s all about pretend play! It’s so great

Thank you so much everyone 💝 I'm definitely going to get one!

Best thing we ever bought! Even my 1 year old nephew loves it! We got a second hand one off market place for an absolute bargain and cleaned up perfectly!

I don’t have the Ikea one, we bought my daughters from smyths but I would definitely say they are worth it. My daughter plays with it every day and absolutely loves it
