NHS staff advice please!

I’m a band 5 nurse and currently work for NHS Scotland but I will be moving to England before the end of the year- due to trying to secure a mortgage and needing a job that will be able to wait for I’m going into private nursing to start off. Once I’m down in England I want to go back to the NHS but I’m wondering what will happen with maternity leave, will I have to complete a years work before I’m eligible for nhs mat leave or will it continue on from my previous job. We would like to try for baby #2 soon after we settle down in England

If you leave the NHS and then rejoin you won't have continuous service. It will be counted from when you start back in the NHS again

@Charley that’s not strictly true. Previous experience can be counted as reckonable service even if there has been a break.

@Laura yes, but not in this scenario? At least not according to my maternity policy. If for example you left the NHS as a band 6 step 2, and then when you came back you applied for another band 6 post, they could count your previous experience and put you back on step 2 rather than starting at the bottom of band 6 again
