I had my baby yesterday around 3pm and my son came to the hospital with my mother-in-law about 5.30pm. He was worried about me being away so I promised him he could come visit. Visiting hours finished at 8 and he did get a bit emotional at having to leave but apparently he was OK once he got back to the car. I think if we were more used to being away from each other I may have left introductions for home but I was missing him too!
My daughter is 2.5 at the beginning of May and I had her little brother 2.5 weeks ago. I was in two minds whether to have her come to the hospital or not as she has never been away from me. I was in overnight as I had a csection. In the end I missed her so wanted her to come in and see me before she went back with dad for the night. I made sure they were staying for at least an hour, that I wasn't holding baby when she came in and that I made a big fuss over her. Then I showed her baby brother and they exchanged the gifts they got. We had loads of cuddles and she held her baby brother and absolutely loved her gifts from baby brother - two books and a soft toy. She also gave baby brother a soft toy that she had picked out for him. It was a lovely experience and I wouldn't change it. She was happy to then go home with daddy and we had no problems. X
Do you mind me asking, are you on blood pressure meds because of pregnancy induced hypertension? I have had to start taking some in the last week because of this. Not bad baby just yet(39 weeks). Congratulations 🎉
I waited till we got home, he was in the Moses basket with a little present next to it form his baby brother 🥰
@Iona hey! Yes I am! Xx
Ah thank you ladies. I think I will maybe wait to see how I feel / timings etc after having baby! And go from there… I guess no right or wrong hey! X
@Maisie do you mind if I message you?
@Iona hey, I was (baby born now) I was put on them at 38 weeks xx
@Holly do you mind if I message you so I don't clog up this ladies thread :)
@Iona of course!! Xx
i think it depends how long i’m gonna be in, with my first i was in for 5 days before being discharged, if it’s the same this time then i’ll have my daughter come and see her sister on day 2/3 when i’ve gotten used to baby a bit more😅 if they say i can home the next day then she’ll be meeting her little sister at home, think it’s nicer that way too as if i’m on a ward there’s not a lot of room for visitors anyway and she doesn’t like being around strangers
@Aimee I think that is probably going to be my plan too!! Xx
@Iona no of course not :) xx
I stayed in the hospital for 1 night while my mum looked after our 3 year old. My mum bought our 3 year old to visit then took him back with her to have one more sleepover aT nanny’s and we had one night back home to adjust to newborn before mum bought our 3 year old home to us xx
We decided against our son coming to see us in hospital. I was in for 24 hours after a planned csection. He can be quite emotional (2y8mo old) and I think it would have upset him to have to leave us behind. I filmed a little video for him from hospital showing him where I am and that I'm with his sister and that I can't wait to see him and my husband played it to him at bedtime and he said he watched it about 30 times lol. It really helped him understand what was going on I think xx
