I’m going to Tenerife and not taking one, it seems too much faff for something we would barely use.. this website hires our equipment while abroad so if you do find yourself needing one.. maybe be cost effective x https://www.travel4baby.com/lanzarote/hire-shop/car-seats OR.. look at hiring a Doona for holiday so you have the best of both? I’ll be perfect honest and probably get slated, but I went on holiday last year to Portugal with my 5yr old and then 18 month old. I didn’t take a car seat, we had a car seat on transfer from the airport to the villa (I arranged the private taxi company), and we very rarely used taxis out there apart from once or twice to go to the supermarket. We stayed local otherwise.
When I took my 22 month old last year the taxis all had a little booster in the boot, he sat on that in a taxi. But otherwise he sat on our knee x
I believe they need a car seat by law even in a taxi in the Canary Islands if under 1.35 metres but regardless sitting your child on your lap in a car I’m sorry is playing Russian roulette with their life. Car seats provided by taxi companies are often thrown around between cars, very old and designed for much older children. They aren’t however obligated to provide any seat so you may find yourself unable to get a taxi without one. It’s not worth it for the sake of convenience. Take the car seat x
