Gestational Diabetes

Got diagnosed with GD today, just wondering has anyone else been diagnosed this late on in pregnancy? I just worry they missed it and am concerned for the baby 🙈🙈 my bump has always been big (to me) but baby was seemly never measuring big. Urine has had traces of glucose a few months back but only last week was it positive and was made to do the test yesterday. Meant to be having a call with the diabetic nurse tomorrow to talk through the next steps. Just need some reassurance, thanks girls xx

I was diagnosed about a week ago don't worry, my 28 wks was fine but because my growth scans were measuring big they re tested and I was just on the border. The diabetic midwife was lovely and I now have to do finger prick tests four times a day to monitor it and monitor what I eat. They sent me to a dietician too just to chat about food I have and portions ect but everyone was lovely so I wouldn't stress. Hope this helps a little x

I've also just had another blood test to check if it was a sudden onset caused by hormones or it's been there a while, it tested for the last three months and that all came bk fine and way under xx

I was diagnosed late in my last pregnancy but LO was small, I don't have it this time but I have a biggish baby for me and too much water due to GD, I hate the finger pricks so I signed up for lots of free trials for the freestyle libres so I could monitor it that way 🤣 they were really good when you only need them for a few weeks

@Lauren where did you find the details on the free trials?

@Christina just on the freestyle libre website, you can sign up for a 2 week trial, I got different members of my family to sign up so I had around 6 weeks worth of them 🫢

I had sugar level one in my urine test today for the first time (34 weeks) they said if I get the same result next time they will retest for diabetes (I’ve already done two tests which were negative as I’m on a diabetes research trial). My baby was measuring big at the last scan at 24 weeks (also part of the research trial) and abdomen measurement was borderline for needing a diabetes test, but I’d only just done one so they didn’t retest then.
