Getting ready

Anyone else’s LO started being a little shit when it’s time to get dressed or do their hair? I’m honestly fed up of this.. it’s getting to a point where she’s now kicking off, screaming, hitting, everything and I physical can not get her dressed/ready Any tips? Tried making it a game but doesn’t work

Ah it's tough isn't it! My little boy won't come out of his sleeping bag to start with so I've started just carrying him downstairs and letting him have breakfast in it, then he always asks to come out of it then it's his choice 🤣 not ideal on nursery days when we're in a rush but it still works out quicker than a tantrum I think! Then just lots of explaining like we can read the book but then we are getting changed. Then offering choice like letting him choose which socks to wear out of 2 or 3 pairs, I think a lot of it is about wanting to have some control so limited choices x

I feel you! The most basic tasks are so difficult and it feels like we can never leave the house 😂 I agree with Laura it’s wanting control but we have to put in boundaries like limited choice or if you don’t pick soon mama will. It’s sooooo annoying and really overstimulates me

Yep my son has decided he's ready for summer now and clothes should no longer be needed. Not even just the chore of getting ready to go out, just putting trousers back on after nappy change can take me like an hour 🤦‍♀️and this morning he's pulled his top off too so he's running around the house in just a vest and nappy and we have half hour till we need to leave the house 🤣 oh the joys

I'm gonna sound really mean, but I don't give my little one the option. I just pick her up, and get it done. She's got chronic eczema, so it's pretty standard that every nappy change/doing creams/getting dressed there's crying, but it needs to be done 🙈 I reassure her while I'm getting her dressed, and we have cuddles afterwards. But if her having a tantrum stopped me getting her ready, we'd never go anywhere 😂

I don't think you sound mean and tbh if I could manage it I'd do the same. To an extent I do I just have a hard time holding him still long enough 😂 but it was the same with dirty nappies not that long ago it would be a whole performance trying to pin him and clean him and now he gets his mat and lays it out before laying down with his legs up perfectly happy 🤣

@Louise You don’t sound mean 🫶 When I say having a tantrum though I literally mean kicking and hitting etc, I physically can not hold her whilst she’s having one, she throws herself about so much
