Unsettled baby

12 week old has been unsettled for about a week now. Crying loads and generally irritable. He usually sleeps through the night but since he been waking up quite a lot. I’m thinking, could he be teething?! He does put his hands in his mouth and bubbles appear also but he’s been doing that for a good few weeks. I’d love some advice on how to know if it is actually teething or maybe something else?? My gut defo says something isn’t right He has his vaccines later today, really dont want to put him through more pain if he’s already so uncomfortable :(

Very difficult to know. I’m the same with my LO (almost 15 weeks). The drooling / everything in mouth started around 12 weeks. Can’t see any teeth yet though! Hard to say as the drooling and hands in mouth is usual for that age in terms of developmental

My baby has just turned 12 weeks and from week 11 to now she has been extra fussy. She was generally an easy baby before this but has been very grizzly and screaming for no reason in the day (she wouldn't let us put her down or take a feed until she was completely settled). It doesn't help that she had her first cold at 10 weeks too. She is also dribbling and trying to press her gums on things. However the last 2 days her fussiness has stopped and she's nice and settled again, so I'm assuming she just went through a little 'leap'. She's still dribbling a bit and trying to bite things but I think she may be just exploring with her mouth. Hopefully this is what your LO is going through and it'll pass! But maybe mention it to the nurse during her jabs if your concerned xx

It could be the growth spurt around this time mixed with a possible upcoming sleep regression which happens around 4 months x my LO is exactly the same with her hands and bubbles but she is also waking up so much more frequently and by the looks of it from the January 2025 babies page other mums are also going through the same thing. I think it’s a stage of development for the babies and also mixed with possible early signs of teething x
