I’m having such a horrible experience with Northumbria maternity

Posting the rant here because honestly I have no idea who to speak to about this. As soon as I got pregnant, I reached out to my gp to refer me to a midwife (which they did in my first pregnancy). They said they don’t do that anymore and to do whatever I needed to via badger notes. Went to badger notes to find out that I needed to be booked with a midwife to login. Called RVI midwifes multiple times a day for multiple days and they never picked up so left a voicemail with all info hoping they would get back. At the same time, also filled the online booked for Northumbria hoping atleast someone will reply. A lot of people had mentioned they got a reply after 10 weeks so waited patiently for 10 weeks. Didn’t hear back so called rvi midwives which said they didn’t cover the area and recommended to call Northumbria. This back and forth cycle between units to units had me going crazy for days Finally a midwife called from an unknown number saying she will book me in, and that they had lost my form. Cancelled 1 hour before the appointment and rebooked to a different location. I couldn’t remember the location, so I wanted to call back and I didn’t have her number or any form of contact. Called the hospitals , midwife’s, everyone and the they just say they can’t help as they don’t have the record. Got pain in my stomach, called hospital reception which sent me through to a girl who was incredibly rude giving one word answers in an extremely bitchy tone. This whole experience has caused me so much anxiety and trouble , I haven’t had a single checkup even though I’m 12 weeks now. I want to file a complaint but I don’t know who to file it against because honestly they have left me so confused with back and forth.

I’m in Swarland avenue surgery, if any one is currently registered there, please tell me aswell

Sorry you’re having a negative experience, this is when digital notes don’t work very well! I would contact your GP surgery and ask if you can speak to the midwife there or leave details for her to contact you. Just say you think you’re around 12 weeks so need a dating scan. Hope you get sorted!

I had a baby about 4 months ago and I’m at swarland avenue. I remember I did have abit of bother trying to get my booking appointment and logged into badger but I got my appointment before I was 9 weeks. I remember having to go to rake lane hospital for it on a Saturday as they were really busy. The midwife at swarland was lovely but she caused quite an issue at my 40 week midwife appointment and booked me into the wrong hospital for my induction so if your wanting to give birth at the rvi rather than cramlington then beware!

@Ashley do you remember which midwives were you booked with, was it rvi or northumbria because I’m still not sure which midwives cover it

It was Northumbria/ north Tyneside who cover your antenatal stuff but your scans are at the rvi. I’m sure I was given a number for the north Tyneside office of midwives who sorted my badger and booking appointment out. I would try speaking to swarland again as you should have had your bloods done etc by now

You can request to go rvi - I did xx

You’ll need to be seen by a north Tyneside midwife at swarland ave surgery. They’re employed by Northumbria trust. You can still go to the Rvi they just won’t provide your community care. You can put a complaint in via PALS on the Northumbria trust website
