Made sure we were super accurate with measuring his feeds so at the 120ml line not closer to the 4oz line as any water quantity less than amount can constipate Ditched the prep machine (yet to know if this did anything but it was worth a go!) Good luck, it was a horrific few weeks when it was at its worst and felt like newborn bliss was robbed from us so I feel for you xx
@Sophie couldn’t agree more on missing the newborn bliss. @Milly I am having the same struggles with my boy. Every feed is misery. I feel like unless he’s asleep or feeding he’s crying and it makes me feel like the crappiest mum because I cannot pin down exactly why he finds feeding so bad and I don’t want to keep changing things because his poor little tummy is so new and precious 😭
@Caley it blows my mind that a doctor would rather prescribe laxative than just give a bit of boiled water like our mums and grandparents did for decades. Once we were on our 4th prescription of something that’s when I told my partner we had to suck it up as I refused to give my son anything else. It takes a lot of patience and I still hate taking him out because feeding is SO stressful. He’ll be 12 weeks on Tuesday and he’s never had a feed without crying
@Caley I have a 7 wk old and she also has been struggling with feeds! I dread them soo much I don’t even go out as she cries soo much! But recently I have been giving her some fennel seed water which has helped with her constipation and discomfort in her belly. Don’t beat yourself up I’m sure you’re doing an amazing job!
@Sophie you’re right! Do what you think is best for your baby! The old traditional ways work so much better than some medications! My 7wk old is the same but I’ve started to give her a tea spoon of fennel seed water and so far it seems to be working! May you could give it a go?
@Sophie I couldn’t agree more! We just have to look forward to when their tummies are a bit more mature and it’ll all calm down. Sending love ❤️🩹
We struggled with reflux (more silent) and constipation for a number of weeks, it’s not perfect now but WAY better. We tried everything including gaviscon but this is where we ended… Tongue tie cut at 7 weeks Aptamil comfort (thicker than regular but doesn’t constipate like reflux) Changed from Mam bottles to lansinoh with fast flow teats for thicker milk and tried to improve his latch post tongue tie cut Insist on a burp mid feed, it’s a right pain cause he really does scream through all feeds but my theory was that he screams no matter what, so up I get, over the shoulder and bounce until I get a burp and then do the same at the end of a bottle Feed every 3 hours in the day instead of every 4 so it’s smaller quants Continued…
