Diapers

Explain diaper sizes to me like I'm stupid 🤦🏼‍♀️. Son is currently 19 lbs and in a size 3. But he's over 12 months obviously so do I wait until he's 27 lbs and move him to size 5 or move him to size 4 when he's over 22? The age thing is what's throwing me as I've never seen that before. Do they make the toddler ones fit different? We've always just moved him up when he went into the next weight range as we didn't want to be stuck with a pack if they became too small but I know they're not growing as fast now. Just feel confused and dumb 🙈

Honestly, I’ve ignored the weight guidelines 😩 I don’t know if Huggies does it, but Pampers have a guide on the diapers themselves that tell you when you should size up so I go by how they fit instead of the weight. My boy is 21lb and 13 months and we just moved him to size 5’s after being in 4’s for about 4 months. Don’t feel dumb, everything about children is confusing af!!! 🤣 Sorry if it wasn’t any help, but I would say just go with your gut. If you’re able to, buy a super small pack of different sized diapers and see how they fit on little man 💕

We def go up based on fit. We tried to follow the size guide but the ended up in diapers too small and with diaper rashes. We always wanted the Pampers Swaddlers to wrap around their hips and secure on the indicators on the front. Out of all the diaper brands I’ve tried, these have been the most consistent in leak proof and sizing.

We always went strictly by weight. Our kids have big bladders, so as soon as they were able to go up to the next size, we did.

Lol I just go with what fits. I don't do weight or age thing. My little one has been in size 4 since he was 6 months old. He's 13 almost 14 months old now. I don't get that at all either. I just go by, ok this fits nicely ok him and it doesn't give him a rash or make him uncomfortable. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Those are just guidelines if you’re in a guessing game of what size to get. Go based on fit above all. My daughter is in size 5 diapers and has been for months and months because she has chunky thighs and the bigger diapers don’t dig into her thighs and leg creases. Just ignore sizing all together. Weight and age mean nothing since every single baby grows differently and at different sizes

Yeah o definitely go by how it fits my son is 13 months and 23 lbs but he’s a little thick in the but and thighs so he is currently in a 5, so yeah just go on the fit of the diaper make sure it has enough space in the back and front and make sure it doesn’t fit too tight on his tummy

I’d go based on fit and weight. My little one has chunky thoughts so even if it fits the waist, when the thoughts get snug, we switch

Same we ignored the chart and went based in what was comfortable for her. She just turned 1 and started 5 and she is 19 lbs prob 20 now. 4 was fine but we think she has more room to tussle in 5. Size wise we found Huggies had more give and ran a little bigger than Pampers.

I just got by what fits. My daughter is 13 months. 18 lbs and in size 3

Honestly it depends on the baby what I do when I think I need to size up is for example my son was in size 4 and we still had a good amount left so I bought size 5 and tried one on because we know he’s going to be in size 5 at some point, might as well have them

It’s whatever size fits best and doesn’t leak. Sometimes babies can be in the weight range but the diaper doesn’t fit properly and it looks super tight on them and possibly leak because that’s how it looks like it will leak so you size them up so it’s not tight. I seen a baby that’s super big but the diaper was super tiny… baby was in the weight range she could have sized up because the next one up has few numbers that are the same range and could have fit better. The diaper should not be squeezing the life out of the baby lol. It should be perfect and hold their urine and bowels. Always check to make sure the diaper is on correctly, fits good, isn’t tight and baby doesn’t have marks from the diaper. It should be comfortable.

My son is 28 lbs and wears size 7… so the guidelines doesn’t make sense to me.

lol before we found out it was by weight every month my oldest wore a size up each time lol until 4months we tried the size 4 and realized it was by weight not by months haha. Size 4-6 were too big for a little person. We kept him at 3 for the longest now he is at 5. As long as the diaper fits how it supposed to and nothing leaks
