Reusable Diepers ?

I have cloth diapered since we got home from the hospital and it’s so much easier than everybody thinks and I swear it’s not that gross. I 100% plan on reusing these and doing it all over again with our second baby.

Howmany have you got plus the inserts etc?? I am on the fence but gone as far as bought some. Is there a practical reason you waited until baby was 5 months old?

We are in a condo with two kids and a dog, it just felt really messy. Is it much less messy than I thought? What do you do with the poopy diaper in the moment of rushing to leave the house for an appt? Or in general?! I also feel like I'd want to wash them at the Laundromat and not in our washing machine? Maybe I'm just super uninformed It sounds like a nice idea but feels like a lot of work. Where I grew up (in the middle of nowhere with lots of land) you could just go outside and hose this type of thing off but not in a condo setting

@Danielle 😅😅, my son's poop is pretty intact, just 2 big blobs I drop in the toilet and flash .take the inserts out and drop the out thingy in a collective thingy all to be washed together with friendly detergent, baking soda and hot water. I won't lie it take a little getting used to. Almost like reusable pads/menstrual cups. It's a whoole eco system.

@Malie i still used them since he was a new born just not exclusively, I was just learning how to do everything including taking care of a new baby , after 4 months I had a system and had learned my way to do things easily and quickly.

We use a mixture but I make sure I use them for at least one day a week Prefer to do it when at home so I don’t have to carry used ones around, but still doable on the go! Agree that they are way easier than I thought they’d be! Especially now baby is nearly a year so poos are a bit more solid/knock off into the loo easily most of the time!

@Madelyn I also had it in my head that it would be filthy and hard and bleh bleh , and idk why but it seems very easy idk why I ever hesitated. It actually is very clean and simple .

@Sugar I was just worried it would be overwhelming and I’m not scared of a mess but time wise cleaning that mess with a baby can be tough! 😂 turns out it’s not that bad at all

@Madelyn I totally understand, it also took me a minute to get here. You just need place to drop the used diapers after you drop the poop. Before he turned 6 months , it was that soft-ish poop ,and I had a little thing to scrape the poop in the toilet then I had a bucket 🪣 filled with baking soda water and i would drop them and wash or my husband would wash every 2 days or as needed .turned out not too bad , I have 2 big bowls just to hold things right by my changing tables .so I remove the dieper place in bowl with poop kinda folded in ,, Clean him properly,clean my hands,then put on a new diaper and put baby on the floor and go flash the poop and place everything where it belongs in 2 seconds.

My baby is used to things now,

@Malie I’m not exactly sure but I have 2 bins full of inserts .it’s maybe 30,I also wash them regularly.

I tried using them with my little one but she wouldn't go toilet with them on. She did a tiny poo once and when I took the reusable nappy off she finished her poo all over the changing mat and bed 🤦🏼‍♀️ it was a nightmare so I then just stuck to the single use ones

@Sophie like he was just holding it in maybe ,could it be the tightness around the waist that was a bit uncomfortable…I haven’t dealt with this issue before. Or he needed to get used to it.
