How to make bathtime more comfortable??

I have a 7week old, bathing him hurts so bad lol. I put a towel down for my knees on the floor which isn’t the issue, but straining to lean over the side to reach his little baby bath is really doing a number on my back. I’m not sure how to handle more than a few minutes at a time. Advice?

What about in the sink?

@Jody I was thinking of buying something like this I even had one on my registry but my tub is so big he’s too far away if I am not basically leaning into it

@Jazmin never thought about this.. he’s a wiggler and even in his baby bath sling I’m worried he’ll slip or catapult himself out lol

Are you putting a baby bath in your bath? Could you use the baby bath somewhere else? We used to use the top of their drawers in the nursery but now we have a shnuggle bath with a stand which works a lot better for us as we don’t need to move a load of stuff to put the bath down. You could use the worktop in the kitchen? Or just put it on the floor and kneel down next to it if your knees aren’t the problem

@Charlotte that’s a good idea! I’ll probably give it another go inside the tub before I try it out to see how much splashage we have lol

@KayLee we have twins and they’ve only just worked out splashing at 4 1/2 months 😂 we just put a towel down under the stand and let them crack on, when they get a bit bigger and the splashes get bigger we might have to rethink and do it on a hard floor 😂😂

Also can’t recommend the shnuggle bath enough, it’s non slip and has a little hump to sit them up so when your lo gets a bit bigger they can support themselves really easily and it makes washing them a dream because you’re almost hands free

@Charlotte Ty for the recommendation! I use the Frida mom grow with me bath and I don’t mind it but I imagine they’re all a bit easier once they can hold themselves up a bit better lol

@KayLee oooh that looks good, the transition options look amazing! We don’t have them in the UK which is a shame!

Get in the bath too. You said you put the baby bath in the tub.

@Ellie GIRL!!! THIS IS THE SOLUTION THANK YOU🥲🥲

@KayLee we did this at our old place. The tub was big enough for the baby bath and us to sit in. We used a milk container to pour water over as the shower head was fixed. We also used a wet towel over the tummy so he wouldn't be cold. When we moved to the new place the tub was smaller so we couldn't do this. He also was sitting really well (8 months). We just filled the tub to the top of his legs and knelt beside him. At 2.5 we just sit on the side of the tub or on the closed toilet. He also spends a lot longer in the tub now.

Do you have a big tub where you can get in with him? Much comfier

Put the baby bathtub on top of the sink or a dresser so that you are standing while bathing them. Have someone help you with carrying the tub with the water because it's heavy

I took a baby bath and had it on my kitchen table didn’t have a tub at the time as she got bigger i did the sink and when she got older a plastic tub for storage. it wasn’t until 2 1/2 she was able to use a real tub but we made with what do! now we have a tub and it’s been nice 😂 But you could do that until you can bath in the floor or get mats

Agree it’s really uncomfortable!! I preferred to have a separate baby bath I could put in his or our bedroom. As he got older too we’d put the projector on and make it a bit of a sensory experience. I did this until he was about 6/7 months and then it was easier once he was in a sitting up bath seat. He’s 17 months now and I do still find it uncomfortable but it’s definitely harder when they’re so little and you’re trying to support their head too xx
