Any hormonal contraception will take awhile to get pregnant after going off it. Additionally if you're breastfeeding then only progesterone based hormonal methods are recommended. You could do the copper IUD as it's free of hormones but most doctors (good ones at least) won't insert it until you're 6 months pp as it can do damage to your cervix and uterus this early. Honestly condoms are the way to go for the time being...you're a better woman than me for wanting to have sex 9 weeks pp 🤣

I’d say either try the implant or minipill, both are progesterone only but don’t affect long term fertility like the injection does Gp will probably push for the coil - I got told could have this at 6 weeks pp. I’m on the combined pill- progesterone only took a toll on my mental health for a while and I waited until I stopped pumping to start the pill 😊

Asked heal baby care app and sharing in case it helps: "It's understandable to feel uncertain about contraception, especially after having a baby. Since you want to have more children within the next two years, you might consider options that are reversible and allow for quick conception when you're ready. 1. Contraceptive Pills: These can be effective and allow you to plan your next pregnancy. There are various types, including combined and progestin-only pills, which can be suitable for breastfeeding mothers. 2. Intrauterine Device (IUD): A hormonal or copper IUD can provide long-term contraception but can be removed when you decide to try for another baby. It's important to discuss these options with your healthcare provider to find what suits your lifestyle and health needs best. Have you had a chance to talk to your doctor about your options since giving birth?"

Thank you ! Has anyone heard of the contraception patches ? I’m so scared to get pregnant to soon, although I want more! I’m so not ready yet 😂 !!

I had the implant for several years before having my daughter. It was then 7 weeks exactly from removal to a positive pregnancy test. Hope this helps 🙂

Thank you xx

@Bryony the patch is also a combination contraception. Its not recommended to use a combination contraception post partum and harder to get pregnant after using something with estrogen in it

I've mainly used the mini pill, both before having my first and in between my first and this pregnancy. I did have the merina coil fitted at 6months postpartum, but after about 12 months I had nothing but issues with it. I came off the mini pill in September, and am due our second in June, so fell pregnant within a matter of days.

Before getting pregnant I was using the patch. I found out I was pregnant 3 months after taking the patch off

I’m a pill girl myself. No side effects for me and you can get pregnant right after you stop

I swear by the copper IUD! It's non hormonal and the main side effect is heavier periods which for many people calms down after a while but for me it lasted the whole few years I had the IUD. Inserting it is painful but nothing compared to childbirth. You don't have to worry about taking a pill or anything which I would probably forget

I’ve used the mirena coil since I was 15/16 but I also have endometriosis and it took about 18 months to fall pregnant after getting it out the first time (but 6 months post op) and I got it back in after having my daughter then fell pregnant 3 months after getting it out the second time

Thank you all ! So helpful!! Think the copper IUD is going to be the best for me 😆xx

You can do the copper iud. It’s non hormonal

I had the implant (had it 3 times) had it taken out in September 2022 by March 2023 I had a positive test x
